Here is yet another example of Afrophobia in Europe. Our humanity cannot continue to be defined by those who have historically denied it. Other human beings or corporate entities, especially in supposedly democratic societies, have neither the right to define the identity of the African descendant (or other groups considered minority); determine their/our worthiness as human beings; control or deny our histories and ability to acquire or transmit knowledge thereof; nor rob our inalienable rights to pursue happiness, including the development our individual character or contort of our sense of self.

Air France's instance on having Mr. Traore wear a wig to cover his well-groomed locks, is a subtle attack on the African person but an attack nonetheless. The DDPA Watch Group has signed on to this petition because the accumulation of minor assaults on our person as African descendants, contribute to the state's on-going structural suppression of people of African descent globally. In the 21st Century this is unacceptable.
